products made, exclusively, in the Pacific Northwest....wine, food, books, pottery, paper goods, clothing, body care products, Mt. St. Helens Volcanic Ash Art Glass, jewelry and North Coast Indian goods.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I worked in the early 70s with co-ops in Peru. When I returned to the states I began to work with and merchandise products from small independent producers right here to sell locally made products similar to what the co-ops in Peru did.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We deal directly with small 'cottage industry' producers in our region. "Go Local" is very important to us. Everything is 'Local'.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have two brick and mortar stores....one in Tacoma's historic Proctor district and one in the Wallingford district of Seattle. We also constantly expand our product offerings on our website: www.pacificnorthwestshop.com so that we have a national and international 'presence'.
Provide detailed directions to your location
We are located in the historic Proctor district in the "North End" of the city of Tacoma, Washington. We are very easily reached from I-5 at the City Center exit and then follow the signs to Schuster Parkway along the waterfront. Schuster will become N. 30th. Continue on N. 30th up the very steep 30th Street hill to the first full stoplight (not the blinking light) at N. 30th and N. Proctor Street. Turn left on N. Proctor and go three blocks. We are on the right at the corner of N. 27th and Proctor. Welcome! Our Seattle store is in the heart of the Wallingford district (4411 Wallingford Avenue N.) where Wallingford Avenue N. meets N. 45th Street....just across the street from the historic Wallingford School.
