How long have you been in business?
We have been in Business as Scaleracing and 132slotcar.us since 2002. Previously in 1996 we started a Company that became Scalextric USA the Importer for Scalextric Slot Cars as well as Slot.it, Fly, NINCO and many other Slot Car brands.
What is your primary product or service?
We are an Importer, and Distributor for several Brands of Slot Cars as well as a Retail Store with Slot Car Tracks that can be used by appointment for Birthday Parties and Events. We also run organised Races on Saturdays. We service all makes of Slot Cars and carry a huge amount of spare parts.
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
I first became interested in Slot Car racing as a child in England, this took me as an adult into the world of Motorsport. I raced Motorcycles for many years and also Karts. When my racing was over I missed the thrill and rush of racing, so I brought my Scalextric set over from England and set it up. Friends would come by and have fun racing with me and the comments were WOW this is fun where did you get this. Well in England Slot cars ( Scalextric ) are known to everyone from little boys and girls to grown ups. I was surprised to find this was not the case here so I started Importing and Distributing Slot cars and Sets. The rest is history. Slot car racing is a great interactive game, a toy, a hobby, a collectible. It can teach children about gears and motors and give a good education in mechanical repairs, as well as modeling, and construction. It teaches cause and effect as these are real racing cars in miniature not virtual games where no damage is done if you crash. You are the owner of a real racing team, small yes, but real they will break if over driven you learn to control your car, how to interact with other racers. Slot Car Racing is a fantastic yet almost unknown game, come and play, or build a track for your own home.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We are a full support Store, we believe in value added support. We sell at Retail but gladly give for free support to anyone with Slot Cars. We will repair cars for no charge except parts used, and believe in the Retail Industry that is needed to hopefully make Slot Car Racing popular in North America. We do Birthday Parties and Corporate Events, and have hosted races at Indianapolis during the "500" and at Daytona for the Pepsi 400and the 24 Hours of Daytona running races for 24 Hours with the public. We also run several Events at the Store including the 24 Hours of Tacoma, and the Northwest Drivers championship.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have one location at this time, I would love to open a full on Motorsports Store, maybe one day but we also have a Network of Authorized Dealers across North America who also sell lines we Import.

The Retail Store is open for Retail sales from 8.00 AM till 8.00 PM Monday to Friday. Saturday and Sunday from 10.00 till 8.00 PM for sales and racing on the store tracks. We will open anytime by scheduled appointment to host Clubs or Parties call Alan at 1-253-255-1807 for more information.
What is the best compliment anyone can give you?
That I really care about the children when doing Events, and that I teach them to be fair. That I am passionate about this Hobby and see it as a valuable tool for teaching children ( and adults ) about racing, and mechanical things.
