How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
My husband gave me a pair of parrots on our 10th anniversary. This sprang into a life time of caring and studying the breeding practices of these birds.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We offer personalized service to each customer. This is how we have built a strong local customer base as well as a noteworthy international client base.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We currently have our Yelm Shop. Within the next month or so we will have our bus completed and be able to provide our personalized service to all of western Washington.
Provide detailed directions to your location
It is not complicated; Yelm only has one main thoroughfare. That is highway 507. Almost in the dead center of town is a Burger King and a Shell Gas Station. Parrotique is right in between the two.
What type of payments do you accept?
We accept Master Card/Visa, local checks, PayPal, and Cash if the customer has I.D. (I want to know anyone who still has cash;)
Which areas do you service?
We have customers from Blaine to Portland visit on a regular basis. Our mail base is Pierce, Thurston, and Kitsap counties.
Who owns your company or runs daily operations?
Martha Scudder owns the business and her best friend and partner; Bob Vincent manages all of the day to day operations.
What are your hours of operation?
Well we are pretty flexible. Basically Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Saturdays noon till 6:30, but we stay later if a customer calls and says they are coming in. Sundays and Tuesdays are a tossup at this point. Our sales are very low on those days, and usually so is my energy. But the phones always ring to my cell phone and I’m always only ten minutes away, so it never hurts to call.
