How long have you been in business?
We started our first store in Tacoma in 1999 in the Westgate South Mall. In 2005, we took over the Federal Way laundry just north of Fred Meyer which has been there since 1982.
What is your primary product or service?
Large capacity washers and dryers for all your laundry needs. Self-serve, coin-op. Clean safe stores with video security
How did you first become interested in your line of business? (if owner) - What is your background? (If owner or store manager)
We were planning to start a family and wanted Laurie to be able to stay home with the babies. So we needed a way to replace her income as a preschool teacher. We decided that a laundromat was a good way to do that because it gave us flexible hours and was simple as well as profitable to operate. We have since adopted twin boys from Cambodia.
How do you differentiate yourself from other businesses in your category and area?
We pride ourselves on having modern large capacity washers(8, 6, &4 load) and 4 load dryers. In both laundries we have replaced all but 4 machines with the latest equipment. We are two of the cleanest laundries in the area.
How many locations do you have and do you have plans to expand?
We have 2 locations now in Federal Way and Tacoma and are not planning to expand in the near future.

Federal Way Take exit 142 from I-5. Go west approximately 4 miles on 348th St. which becomes Campus Drive SW. We are on the left just past the Post Office and the stoplight at 19th SW. We are in a small building with several stores. Turn left at 19th and a quick right into our parking lot. Tacoma-Take 6th Ave exit off Hwy 16 West. Cross over 6th Ave and merge into Pearl Ave N. Go about 1 mile to 26th St. N.,and turn right. Laundry is in the building right behind the Shell station and car wash.
What type of payments do you accept?
Cash only Coin changer available ATMs just steps away-corner of building or Key Bank across the street in FW, Shell Station, Key Bank or Wells Fargo Bank in Tacoma

Federal Way and surrounding areas-Fife, Milton, Kent, Des Moines, Redondo, NE Tacoma Tacoma and surrounding areas-University Place, Ruston, Gig Harbor, Vashon Island

My wife and I own and operate both stores.

What is your favorite quote or Bible verse?
Our name "Lighthouse" is based on the scripture Matthew 5:14-16 "...so let your light shine before men that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven." We also play Christian music in the stores and give out free Bibles.
